Ahh Second Life, everyone’s favourite…well, secondary life. A game/life simulator so influential, Sony have pretty much ripped off the entire concept with their Home application. A game/life simulator so demanding and stressful, that women are reduced to kidnapping their avatar boyfriends in real life with a taser, BB gun and duct tape.
33 year old Kimberly Jernigan had an in-game affair with a 52 year old man in the game (I’m really struggling to call this thing a game, since it’s not) which he promptly broke off. Heartbroken (and probably slightly insane), Kimberly did what every jilted woman in history should have been doing for years…kidnap her beloved in real life.
After failing to kidnap him at his workplace, she arrived at his real life home two weeks later. Armed with a taser, a BB gun, a wrap of duct tape, a pair of handcufts and her dog named Gogi, Kimberly broke into the man’s window, waiting for his return.
Of course the fool-proof plan failed when the guy walked in to find a red laser on his chest and promptly ran for his life. Kimberly then ran away and was never seen from again…
Until authorities discovered Gogi, duct taped in the bathroom, preventing him making any noise (so, we’ve gone from botched kidnap to animal cruelty, awesome). Kimberly has been arrested.
Whether the future trial awaits in Second Life remains to be seen but regardless, I think I speak for everyone when I say: “She left her dog duct taped in his bathroom? What the fu…”.
